MANDI GOBINDGARH 3 KM from Khanna This town is the Sub-Tehsil of Distt. Fatehgarh Sahib, which is also known as the Steel Town of India and is having a large number of steel rolling mills. 205 rolling mills are serving 25% of the secondary steel requirement of the country. Khanna

Khanna is an olden town situated on the historic Grand Trunk Road (National Highway No 1), 45 km southeast of Ludhiana, in Punjab. It is considered the biggest grain market in Asia. Khanna is a few kilometers northwest of Mandi Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib District. Khanna is mainly popular as Asia’s largest grain mandi, there are 250 arhtiyas or licensed commission agents, selling 10 lakh tonnes of wheat in a season. Khanna is an ancient town, which came into existence 500 years back. History reveals that Sher Shah Suri built a number of Sarais (inns) at every 12 to 15 miles along Delhi Lahore road. One of the Sarais was built in this area that is still known as Purani Sarai. After the decline of mughal rule in Punjab Banda Bahadur captured the area from Sirhind to Hoshiarpur. .......................................

Sahnewal

Sahnewal town is situated on Ludhiana - Ambala, G.T.Road. Sanehwal is also known for its association with Dharminder the film star, who was born and brought up here. An aerodrome and pilot training centre is also established near it. This place has a historical gurdwara Damdama Sahib , associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji. While leaving Chamkaur Sahib, the great Guru passed through, Machhiwara, Ghulal, Katana Sahib, Reru Sahib, Kanech Village reaching Sanehwal on 27th Dec, 1704. Here he leaned against a Karir tree to take rest and called for the village panchayat. But none turned up saying that there was no panchayat over here. The great Master ordered that there would be none in future also. Saying this the Guru started on his onward march, when a few of the village folk approached him asking for forgiveness and served the Guru. The Guru said that elder and wise people would do justice in the absence of a Panchayat. Such is the situation and it goes on ....................................

Machhiwara

Machhiwara is a town and a nagar panchayat in Ludhiana district, Punjab. The town is located 35 km away from Ludhiana, 9 Km from Samrala, 40 km from Chamkaur Sahib, 25 KM from Rahon. The river Satluj is towards its north & Sirhind Canal is towards its west. The town is approachable by roads from Samrala, Ludhiana, Ropar, Chamkaur Sahib, Nawan Shahr (Satluj bridge). The town is historic as 10th Guru of Sikhs Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji came to this town after the battle of Chamkaur Sahib. The town has following famous Gurudwaras namely Shri Charan Kanwal Sahib, Shri Chobara Sahib , Shri Ghani Khan Nabi Khan Sahib & Shri Kirpal Bhaint Sahib. The town has an old Shiva temple on the Ropar Road. It is believed that Pandva’s spent a part of their agyatvas here. Machhiwara is famous for Gurudwara Sri Charan Kanwal Sahib named after the Guru's feet that are compared to the lotus flower. When Aurangzeb's army attacked the fortress of Chamkaur Sahib, Guru Gobind Singhji successfully resisted their onslaught and slipped away into the forests of Machhiwara. The Mughal forces got wind of his whereabouts and Guru Gobind Singhji was saved by two of his Muslim devotees who disguised him as their Muslim prophet. The place where the Guruji rested is where the Gurudwara stands today ............................

Mandi Mullanpur, sometimes called Mullanpur Dakha or simply Mullanpur, is a town located 18 KM from Ludhiana on Grand Trunk Road to Jagraon. Its postal Code is 141101 and its telephone area code is 161 (the same as Ludhiana). Most of the people living there are farmers and businessmen. The village of Mullanpur is connected to the town of Mandi-Mullanpur via two link roads. On one road there is a Gurudwara (Sikh temple), Baba Saheedan, having historical significance. It also is home to the winnipeg bluebombers football team. On the other road there are houses of families who have lived there since Independence [Circa 1950].

The population of Mandi Mullanpur is comprised mainly of India's four main religious groups: Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians. ......................................

Jagraon

Jagraon is a historic city of Lala Lajpat Rai, who fought for the independence of our country was a resident of this city. The house where he stayed and made plans for the Govt. of Punjab has maintained the independence struggle as a museum. This city now has a Library and a college in the memory of Lala Lajpat Rai and a statue of Lala ji has been installed in the park opposite Municipal Council building.

Jagraon is an important religious center for the Sikhs, the Muslims as well as the Jain community. Gurudwara Nanaksar Sahib is one of the important places of worship for the Sikhs. Gurudwara Mehdiana Sahib is known for its unique depiction of scenes from Sikh history, especially those of so called "atrocities" committed on Sikhs by the Muslim rulers, in the form of life-sized statues. The Muslim places of worship include the famous 'Khan gah' and the mausoleum of Mai Jeena, where a three day annual fair, called 'Roshni Mela' is held every spring. ......................................

Ludhiana Towns - Raikot

Raikot Town has an extra-ordinary historical & religious importance. Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji came in this city & resided in the Bumper Forests on 19 poh of the calendar year 1761 (Bikrami January 1705) under the Sheesham tree on the bank of Lehi Stream. A shepherd Noora Mahi of Rai Kalha used to go for grazing buffaloes at the time of rising Sun. Then Guru ji asked Noora Mahi to give milk for drinking. Noora Mahi told respectfully that he had already milked the buffaloes at home. Then Guru Ji handed over the Ganga Sagar (a vessel) having 288 holes to Noora Mahi & pointed towards non-milking buffaloes for milking. Noora started milking by following the order of Guru ji. Noora wondered, when the non-milking Buffaloes gave milk & even a drop of milk didn't spill out from Ganga Sagar. .....................................

Doraha

Doraha is situated on G.T. Road, between Ludhiana & Khanna. It was known as “Kiasabad Chaurasi” Main Railway Line and Sirhind canal passes in the centre of the city. It is the main market of timber in Punjab. This is the last city of Patiala Riast. This city has the foot touch of the 6th Guru of Sikhism Sh. Hargobind Ji. Relating to him here are four places known as Gurudwara Damdama Sahib. There are two Pata’s on the name of Gurudwara Sahib. One is of 568 Bigha and other is 70 Bighas. This Pata is written by Sh. Lakhi Chand is Samat 1695 on a piece of Iron. Second Pata is of 70 Bighas written in 1685 on the piece of Brass by Doraha Town.

At the time of AurangJeb, its military came here to spread the Muslim Religion. The Sikhs living here gave their sacrifice & the Hindus accepted Muslim Religion. The Pata’s of the above said land went in the hands of New Muslim families ............................................
